Released: 2023Perimatterology is a fictional discipline that reimagines what it means to measure something. Instead of treating measurement as an abstract number that reduces an object to a quantity, it turns measurement into a thing rather than an attribute of a thing. Using a simple red thread, the Perimatterologist traces the perimeter of meaningful artifacts, such as a tefilin, a footprint, or a birthmark, capturing their outline through direct contact. The resulting red thread perimeter becomes both the measurement and a new object in its own right, a physical trace that carries the shape, presence, and essence of what was measured. The red thread holds the memory of what it touched, transforming measurement into a concrete artifact rather than a symbolic code.
